Introducing Microsoft Surface Book

Keeping pace with the dynamic technology market, Microsoft at a press event in New York in October 2015 , announced its new product – the Microsoft Surface Book. The Surface Book is essentially a tablet, which can be fitted onto a keyboard groove to function as a laptop.

Microsoft’s Flagship Device

Touted as “the ultimate laptop” by Microsoft, the Surface Book promises to be one. Being the thinnest and most powerful laptop ever created, the Surface Book has been crafted personally by Microsoft and not by the usual hardware manufacturers. This makes Surface Book Microsoft’s flagship device with high-end components and an aesthetic design.

Design and Finish

  • The Surface Book is a 13-inch, light weight (700 gm) and thin (0.3 inches) device that is easy to use and carry.
  • When attached to the keyboard, the Surface Book weighs 1.5 Kg and about 0.9 inches thick.
  • The keyboard hinge incorporates a flexible dynamic fulcrum design that makes the process of inserting the tablet seamless.

  • It possesses the Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and an NVIDIA GeForce GPU with dedicated high-speed 16 GB storage with 8 or 16 GB RAM.
  • It offers long battery life; it can last up to 12 hours while playing video.

Launching in October 2015

Microsoft has revealed that It will be ready for shipping from 26th October 2015. Currently it can be pre-ordered from Microsoft’s official website. Microsoft is planning to launch a range of Surface Books with different configurations. Users can choose from the i5 and i7 Intel Core processors, 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM and the option of having the NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Processor. While the base 128 GB model is priced at $1,4999, the 1 TB Surface Book with NVIDIA processor and will cost $2,699.
