After months of speculation, OnePlus 6 is finally here. The Chinese company is known to sell smartphones with high-end specifications at affordable prices. It includes a beautiful design, strong build quality, clean software, and good specs surpassing the quality of some really good Samsung phones. Only six months have passed since the launch of OnePlus 5T, and the company is back with another phone.
The one major difference that you will first notice in the OnePlus 6 is how the design is different from the previous OnePlus 5T. OnePlus 6 has been inspired by some 2018 design trends and have been successful at adopting them. There is a notch on the top of the phone which has helped slim down the bezels and also houses the camera and the earpiece.
Face unlock feature
With the OnePlus 6, you can make use of the front-facing camera to unlock the phone. Or you could also use the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. There is also a Face Unlock feature, similar to Apple’s Face ID, but it might not be that safe and is purely meant for convenience rather than security.
OnePlus 6 with Biggest screen
It will probably be the first OnePlus phone to have the biggest screen. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. In fact, both the front and the back are of the phone are covered in Gorilla Glass 5. OnePlus has also reserved the headphone jack for OnePlus 6 and has also made the phone more water resistant.
The OnePlus 6 features dual rear cameras. The main camera is a 16MP lens, while the secondary camera has a 20MP lens. Both these sensors are provided by Sony and comes with OIS and EIS. The 16MP lens now allows more light in, and will also reduce the level of noise in low light shots.
The rear camera on OnePlus 6 will be able to shoot up to one full minute of slow-motion video at a time. It can do that at 480fps in a 720p resolution. The Portrait Mode will also return to the OnePlus 6, and there will be a software update that will bring the feature to the front-facing camera as well. OnePlus 6 also features Dash Charge. This provides the phone with a day’s power in about half an hour. Though the battery size of OnePlus 6 will remain the same as the OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus 6 will feature two sets of biometric security. The first one will be the rear-mounted fingerprint security scanner. It is now featured in a smaller, oval shape, instead of the circle on the OnePlus 5T. The second is the Face Lock feature. This feature allows you to unlock your phone hands free. The Face Lock feature on the phone takes up to 0.4 seconds to recognize you and give you access to the phone. The fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 6 is slightly quicker than this at 0.2 seconds.
A bit pricey
It 6 is powered by a QualComm Snapdragon 845 chipset. This ensures your phone is provided with plenty of power. OnePlus 6 will run Android Oreo 8. But it will also support the Android P Beta. The RAM options on OnePlus 6 will be 6GB and 8GB. While you can choose from three storage options: 64GB, 128GB, 256GB. The 64GB storage variant will cost you $529. The OnePlus 5T started at a cheaper price for the same variant. The 128GB storage variant will be available at $579. The top 256GB model will officially be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone yet at a price of $629.
There are also some optional gesture controls, a new gaming mode that will improve performance and reduce network discontinuation. The phone will be available in three colors: Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Silk White. The OnePlus 6 will be made available starting from May 22. But only the Midnight Black and Mirror Black will be available for now, while the Silk White will go on sale from June 5. The OnePlus 6 seems like a well-designed device with great power.
