Lenovo Miix 510 – An Almost Surface Pro Clone

Lenovo Miix 510

The Lenovo Miix 510 looks like a worthy opponent to Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. The durable aluminum design is underrated, yet attractive. The display is colorful with a clear picture. Under the hood is a competitive collection of specs.

Lenovo‘s latest 2-in-1 PC is composed of two parts: a tablet portion and a detachable keyboard. When connected together, the result is the Miix 510 form a quasi-laptop; when separated, you get a highly portable tablet packing Windows 10.

Outstanding Design

The Lenovo Miix 510 definitely takes its design and feature cues from Microsoft’s tablet. Even with the hinged kickstand that runs the width of the 12.2-inch screen. Lenovo carries its watchband-like hinges from its Yoga 900 series laptops to the kickstand. It allows you to tilt the screen back up to 170 degrees. With a premium one-piece aluminum design, the Miix 510 is bound to attract attention. This detachable 2-in-1 easily transitions from tablet to laptop to support you wherever you go.

Combining the flexibility with its magnetic detachable keyboard folio cover and you can type comfortably on a desk. With 1.5 millimeters of key travel, typing on the Miix 510’s backlit keyboard feels more like a regular laptop. A lot of people would prefer Microsoft’s for its larger click pad and full-size right-hand Shift key, but the Miix’s backlit keyboard is otherwise pretty excellent.

Unique Watchband Hinges

The watchband hinges on Miix 510 is made from 280 individual pieces of stainless steel, the hinges provide strength and flexibility. Adjustable up to 170°, it helps you find a perfect viewing angle for watching videos, typing or using the touchscreen.

You can power through tasks like creating/editing documents and photos and much more. It also features a 12.2” FHD+ touchscreen in addition to the power and agility of a regular laptop PC. Enjoy fast start-ups, to the expanded Start menu and all-new browser, to Cortana, which is your very own digital personal assistant. Miix 510 features the latest PCIe Solid State Drive (SSD) technology. It enables it to boot up within seconds and open files/apps in a flash. Since SSDs have no spinning parts, you’ll benefit from a virtually silent machine with the durability to withstand accidents.

Easy to Type

The detachable keyboard with backlighting has 1.5mm of key travel too closely replicate the feeling of typing on a laptop. And it doubles up as a folio case to protect the screen when you are on the move. The integrated precision touchpad can be adjusted to respond to the lightest of touches or the firmest of clicks.

Lenovo Active Pen

Using the Lenovo Active Pen you can draw, sign documents, take notes, and more. The optional Lenovo Active Pen is sensitive to every detail.

Taking Pictures with Miix 510

Battery Life

The battery of Miix 510 can keep you connected all day long with up to 8 hours of battery life. With USB always-on charging, you can charge your other devices even when your Miix is in sleep mode.

If performing light tasks at a stretch is your requirements, you’ll like this hybrid, although the keypad or battery life may test your patience at times.
